Installing the SteppIR

In november we decided to do a major overhaul on our station. All cables need to be inspected and soldered again. Also we had to fix the problem with the Tailtwister rotator because the controller didn't show the correct position. We also decided to remove a large part of the aluminium mast inside the rotator. It carried the 2 and 70 cm vertical in top but it's never been used since 2001: it was a useless addition of kilo's and windload so it had to go.

We took down all HF antennes from the mast and replaced it with a 3 element SteppIR. Later on a full size rotary dipole will be added for 30 and 40 meters. The inverted vees for 80 and 160 will be placed on a separate single pole later this year. Have a look at some pictures to see how we assembled the antenna and how we finally got it up in the mast!
