Heroes of ham radio
This page will be dedicated to those who we believe are “Heroes of Ham Radio”. Basically we regard anyone who is insane enough to spend time and money on DXpeditions eligible for our heroes list. We know the list is far from complete but still, there are a few out there we think belong to the “outer categories of DXpeditioning”. They received many acknowledgements and prizes over the years for all their efforts.
This page is a way for us to express our tnx to all of you who gave us great pile-ups, great dx and, last but not least, new dxcc countries!

Hrane, YT1AD has been on countless DXpeditions (3D2CI, K1B, T33C etc. etc.) both as an excellent operator and expedition leader. He is ranked in the top 100 of most travelling persons in the world. Fantastic high speed CW operator and top notch contester. Find out more on Hrane’s nice website.

Ralph, KøIR was co-leader on the superb Peter One expedition. We can’t begin to imagine what one has to organize to put up an expedition on this scale! He also participated in DXpeditions to South Sandwich, South Georgia and co-lead the famous VKøIR expedition to Heard Island. No tropical destinations for Ralph.

Bob, K4UEE was co-leader on the 3YøX expedition and has been on numerous expeditions like Heard Island, Bhutan and Kingman Reef. We saw Bob in the video’s (he has got a great voice!) made by 9V1YC. He is able to combine organizational talents and DX skills.

Nigel, G3TXF is a real world traveler and usually goes on CW-only expeditions. Known for his fantastic skills as a CW
operator. Has remarkable ears and is very famous for it! Nigel made so many QSO’s and received so many QSL’s he had to build a special shack to store all his cards. Nigel also has a great website.

Baldur, DJ6SI is a true expedition veteran. He seems to be able to obtain a license in unstable and dangerous countries like Somalia. You will not work him from a rental shack in Turks and Caicos we guess. Baldur was also part of the 1983 DXpedition to the Spratly Islands that ended in disaster: DJ3NG and DJ4EI were killed in action. Do read more on the web about this trip that ended up in an absolute nightmare.

This man needs no further introduction to the DX community! Martti, OH2BH has been on many top class expeditions. He activated many hard new ones like P51BH and is a true ambassador to our hobby. Read more about this guy on the internet. There is plenty around.

James, 9V1YC lives and works in Singapore and has been on many high quality expeditions like VP8GEO, VP8THU, BS7H ZL8R etc. etc. The great thing about James is that he shoots great video's when he's on an expedition so we can get a glimpse behind the screens and a taste of what it would be like to be on such a trip. Have a look on his website and order one. We highly recommend it!

Roger, G3SXW is a member of both the DX and Contest CQ Halls of Fame and that says it all. He has plenty of stories to tell about his expeditions so he wrote some books about it like "Up Two - Adventures of a DXpeditioner", "Contesting in Africa, Multi-Multi on the Equator" etc. We especially like the idea that he sticks to cw on his expeditions: cw still rules!
...and DLDF, PA3GIO, K4SV, JT1CO, UA3AB, RA3AUU, XE1KK, N5KO, N1DG, WA1S, PA3DZN, F5CW, I2YSB, DL7AFS, JA1BK, PA5M etc. etc. etc. I'll add more heroes soon!
